This book is an amazing "must" read for anyone that has ever struggled, and felt "different". Well written and often offering quiet inspiration. In her home city, Linda is/was recognized as an amazing teacher. I once (a few years ago) had the pleasure of Linda's passing acquaintance, I was always impressed with her patience and kindness to others and her amazingly positive attitude and adaptability. My son has developmental strugles and I often wish my little town had a Linda.
Thank you LJ for enabling us to see the world through your eyes and to understand the impact that our perceptions can have on our attitudes and our happiness. Through your words I was challenged to see some of my own perceptions from a different angle. As you so beautifully illustrated by the use of your poem, written as a 23 yr old and rewritten thirty years later, everything can change when we are able to change our perceptions. Thank you for sharing your story with such honesty and intimacy. This is a book I know I can read and reread and continue to come away with new insights. Well done!!
This is an amazing book by a truly inspired author! Linda Nelson takes us on a journey which will have meaning and depth for anyone who has ever struggled with what it means to be “normal” (which is all of us!) She not only shares her unique perspective as a “little person”, but also demonstrates how it is possible to see and experience one's own life as a transformative process. This is memoir-writing at its most powerful ... where we are able to see the redemptive work of the Spirit making all things new and utterly changing our perceptions of reality. -The Rev.
