I ordered this from my local bookseller: Talewind Books on the Sunshine Coast, BC. Joshua Whitehead is a phenomenal talent: scholar, poet, novelist. His work weaves so many meaningful influences together, from Oji-Cree understandings and two-spirit desire to cheesy TV sitcoms, canonical Indigenous literature, queer club culture, '70s disco, eighteenth-century English poetry, Japanese anime, RuPaul's *Drag Race*, etc., yet does so in ways that feel organic, provocative, and entirely necessary. Seeing the collection on the physical page adds meaningful layers, as the structure of the poems are as important as their content, and the interplay between the various pieces within the collection expand their individual significance. This is a multilayered, challenging collection that merits careful reading and re-reading, and it's so worth it. Such great work!
