Exceeded my expectation on the subject.

If you want to learn how to render this is the perfect book. Like the tittle says this book is about the fundamentals of light shadow and reflectivity, it covers a lot of points on this, this book is more for professional artists in my opinion, rendering to me is really a form of polishing your work, it's the extra finish, the detail that elevates art from good to great.
Don't expect this book to teach you perspective and how to draw a cat or something, it won't talk about form or anatomy or whatever. Expect it to teach you about the subject it's on. It also won't teach you about "the artist within yourself" or how to get over art block or deal with criticism. It's a lot more technical then that, It's about physics really... how light behaves, how material reacts to it, how shadows are cast, how color comes into play etc etc...
Also if you think it's a little pricey realize that it's a large 260 page fully colored illustrated monster of a manual. It's big, heavy, extensive, and I love it.
I would recommend this for more advanced artist.
