VIDEO:

“Aladdin” finally arrives on blu-ray with MPEG-4 AVC 1080p 1.85:1 encode. The transfer was stunning with vivid and vibrant colours that pop. Black levels are deep and inky. There is tremendous crisp details, from the crisp line art to every last tiny texture or touch in the background, the patterns on the flying carpet, the riches of the Cave of Wonders, or the splendor of the palace. There are minor hints of banding, but not distracting. (4.5/5)

VIDEO:

“Aladdin” arrives in North America with DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio, which was an improvement to the Holland import with only 5.1 mix in 2013. The added channels create an engulfing feeling, especially during the musical numbers. Genie's "Friend Like Me" booms from every channel as the camera pans and rolls around the scene. Dialogue is clean, intelligible and smartly prioritized. Dynamics are excellent. This is an exciting and immersive soundtrack. (5/5)

MOVIE:

Referring to Disney's North American blu-ray release of “Aladdin” as "highly anticipated" or "long awaited" would be a gross understatement. It was fun in watching Robin Williams bringing the Genie to life with the kind of madcap flare that only he can provide. Also, the choice of voices is outstanding: Scott Weinger (Aladdin), Linda Larkin (Jasmine) and Jonathan Freeman (Jafar). There are also many memorable songs, like “A Whole New World” (which won Oscar for Best Original Song by Alan Menken (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics) plus Oscar for Best Original Score for Alan Menken. There are two versions of “A Whole New World”: within the movie sung by Lea Salonga and Brad Kane, plus the pop version during the end credits by Regina Belle and Peabo Bryson (Billboard Hot 100 #1(1)/1992). Great movie. (5/5)

FINAL THOUGHTS:

“Aladdin” is simply magical on high definition. It will make your heart race and your spirit soar. Both the video and especially the audio are outstanding with many great songs and lovely music. There are also new extras about Robin Williams as the Genie, a true tribute to the enchanting talent of Robin Williams, the “Genius behind the Genie.” This set is highly recommended to all.

This is probably my favorite Disney movie. It's got it all - Lovable main characters, a dark and sinister villain, epic battles, supernatural light shows, and some decent songs. I'll say the entire fight with Jafar at the end rivals Maleficent as the most epic battle with a Disney villain. This should be on shelves in stores 24-7.

Also, if you watch this, you kinda have to watch Return of Jafar as well. It's not quite as good as this one, but it gives a definite conclusion to the Jafar story.

My kids grew up watching this film and along with Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid. It is one of my favourite Disney films. Robin Williams was priceless in it. He's hilarious. This film isn't just for kids but for the whole family. Definitely one that I had in VHS format that needed replacing!!!

Nothing bad can be said about classic Disney movies like this one.
The fact that it's now in HD with better picture and better sound, along with a ton of behind the scenes and a dedication to Robin Williams just makes it a must-have on your film list.

I've been waiting for the Diamond edition FOREVER! Such a great movie!

Was a little concerned since all the packaging and inserts was in French and English seemed to be second place, so I thought the movie would be in French by default. However, the movie was defaulted to English, so no complaints.

Originally, I bought it in VHS format. I know, don't tell me, how old is that? Anyway, I was thrilled to finally obtain a copy of this Disney classic in DVD/Blu-ray to add to my collection. The movie is great!

They have cleaned up the footage dramatically in this version. It looks better than when I originally watched it years ago. This package is a great value as you get the digital download of the movie as well.

My daughter and I both enjoy this movie. This is very charming tale about a poor boy who falls in love with a girl, who turns out to be the sultan's daughter. He charms her, and despite Jafar's efforts, everything turns out great and they live happily ever after. (Of course, right?)... Oh, and let's not forget Robin Williams plays Genie. While this movie is very sweet and cute, he pretty much makes the whole movie. He is so funny.

What can be said about this movie that hasn't been said before? Great sound and picture quality. The movie is just great. If you have kids that have never seen this movie, pick it up. Also, if you were ever a kid, do the same.
