A stylish classic that still holds enough charm and content to cement it's place as one of the Wii's best titles. Snappy and simple core gameplay make up the best of No More Heroes, but exploring the characters and world of Santa Destroy is still an oddly entertaining romp. Crazy plot twists and insane writing await anyone ballsy enough to brave it's 10(?) bosses.
Do not play at 12 years old, may skew your perspective on life for good.
I had known about this game for some time but had not wanted to try it till recently I enjoyed the quirkyness and the Otako fan boy references, the part that makes this game fun is just taking it as a joy ride game just having fun and driving around and I did enjoy it
No More Heroes is one of those games that you can show off to your friends to prove that the Wii isn't a kiddy console. As an assassin, your job is to kill ten other assassins to make it to the number one spot. Along the way, you'll kill scores of bad guys (complete with decapitation and vertical-slicing finishing moves), perform side jobs to make money (collect coconuts, mow the lawn, etc.), upgrade your beam katana and your repertoire of wrestling moves, and occasionally play with your kitten in your apartment. It's a bloody, violent, hell of a good time, and a must-buy if you have a Wii.
However, as much as I love Amazon, if you look around at other Canadian retailers, you'll realise that Amazon.ca is selling this game for too much. Yeah, free shipping, but local retailers and big box stores *will* have this game for cheaper.
EDIT: Amazon.ca is now selling the game for *less* than other Canadian retailers. Funny how things change so quickly!
I'm not gonna lie; No More Heroes is a great game. It's got an very high level of violence, a likeable main character, and a brilliant art style. The story revolves around Travis Touchdown; a perverted otaku who wants to impress hot chick Sylvia. And the only way to do that is to kill your way to the rank of worlds deadliest assassin. And that sets the stage for the chaos that is No More Heroes. Be warned, this is not a game to be played with kids around. You'll decapitate, chop, slice, and dice enemies into little more than a giant pool of blood. The action can get repetetive though. As awesome as it is, using a beam katana to cut up enemies can only last so long. So if you're the type of gamer who likes to finish games in 2 or 3 long runs, it make get a little stale. But fighting isn't the only thing you do. In order to earn enough money to participate in your next "ranking battle" you'll play a number of minigames. And to reach these "jobs" you need to venture across the city of San Destroy to find them. And depending on how well you do, you may earn a lot of money from them. These activities include mowing lawns, collecting coconuts, ect. Overall, No More Heroes is a great game, and not even some repetetiveness can ruin it.
