I read this book before ever playing a gig as a DJ...and in the first 3 gigs I played I had echoes of it in my head. I had so many of the experiences Phil talks about - having your speakers in the right place, taking and dealing with requests, remembering you are playing for more than just you and your friends, why it's important to prepare your music files beforehand...it was awesome. Definitely gave me the bug and I can't wait to play out again and keep improving. Highly recommend!
