It seems that there are many variations of this product out on the market, not sure if any are better or worse than this one. Don't use the included headphones, they are absolute garbage. I've been listening through my Sennheiser HD4.40 headphones, and the sound quality is surprisingly decent. Only problem I've had is that it tends to play tapes slightly too fast, so the pitch also gets raised slightly. It's subtle, but the difference is noticeable. The quality of the unit is incredibly cheap, it's made entirely out of the cheapest plastic you can possibly imagine. The quality when you record the audio from a tape is mediocre, might sound better with some mixing though. Overall a fun/inexpensive way to listen to your old tapes!
Edit: I was able to fix the issue with the tapes running fast. If you open up the device, on the circuit board next to the motor, there is a small potentiometer. If you take a flathead screwdriver and adjust it ever so slightly clockwise, this will slow the playback down sufficiently. If tapes run too slow for you, turn it counter-clockwise.
The player works ok as a Walkman but does not work with any of my USB drives. It detects the drive but will not convert anything to MP3. The record button for this function is ignored even though a drive is present.
