Well, there wasn't much Recency. Is that you, Mr. Darcy? Why I am shocked at your lack of control. In this one Elizabeth is unrecognizable. There was plenty of PDA. Elizabeth could not stop Darcy even if she wanted to. At least his intentions were honourable. It was a breeze through without unnecessary angst, which is fine by me. I am REALLY tired of all the conflict. However, this could have been better. There was too much hands on. Darcy seems to have morphed into some horny guy. It's odd and anachronistic.
I tried to read this book and give the author the benefit of the doubt that a story line would eventually emerge, but I had to give up. The writing is poor, the way the characters address one another is constantly changing and not formal enough for the time, the characters do not follow the personalities that JA gave them (Darcy is bold, romantic and instantly charming while Elizabeth blushes and kisses and doesn’t have much spark). It seems that the author wrote this imagining a different time period. Other readers may have more interest than me, but it definitely was not a story I enjoyed.
