i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the third book in the For You series. In this book, Ace's cousin Jay has moved to Harlan and is trying to recover from his traumatic past. Jay is gay and when he came out at age 16, his family disowned him and left him homeless. Jay had to do a lot of things to survive and now suffers from PTSD. Corey is a doctor and when he first meets Jay, he is drawn to him and wants to help him. Jay goes to the coffee shop with Ace to meet friends and when he starts to panic, Corey helps him calm down. Corey is determined to help Jay and continues to join him at the cafe and soon they become friends. Corey has his own issues from his past he has to deal with, but he is more interested in helping Jay. When Jay asks Corey to dinner, Jay can't help but wonder why Corey isn't interested in him. Corey explains he was scared of pushing too far with Jay and what he was comfortable with. Corey and Jat settle into a relationship and Corey helps Jay get help from a doctor he knows from work. Everything is going well until Corey has to face his own issues. I thought this was a great story. I love how strong Jay was and how he overcame so much to find happiness. Corey was s o supportive of Jay and really cared for him. I love how they helped each other and how they connected to each other. Another good one from this series.
Jay is so traumatized when he first meets Corey and everyone else in Harlan. He has spend the last 15 plus years fighting to stay alive.
When Corey sees the damaged man for the first time his heart skips a beat. And he can see the man is haunted and all he wants to do is help him get his light back.
Corey will do anything to help Jay and also maybe heal his own heart after all these years. I have loved all the books in this series but this one is definitely my favourite. But I have a feeling that Jaime and Beck’s story will be epic. And I can’t wait to read about their road to a happily ever after.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
