Amazing film. Taron egerton’s performance was ecstatic and brilliant to witness in theatres. The story focuses on Elton discovering who he is as a person during his rise to fame. It’s clear the cast and crew worked very hard on this film. I already watched the film twice❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🏳️🌈 Also I saw someone else’s comment saying that the film is very dark. I disagree, it touches upon very real topics such as addiction, mental health and self discovery which many families and individuals deal with. And if you know anything about Sir Elton, then you will know that it gets better and he’s been sober for nearly 30 years. #LongMayHeReign lol
Saw this movie in the theatre today and can't say I loved it. I'm not sure what I was expecting, honestly. This movie was mostly quite dark, outlining Elton's rise to fame and all the personal and professional issues that went along with it. I had no idea his life has been so difficult but I guess that's the point of this film.
None of the music was Elton's voice; several of the actors sang instead. There were also several bouts of the cast suddenly breaking into song and dance, much like the Mama-Mia movies, which I wasn't expecting. Can't say I liked those parts but you may.
Overall, I'm happy I saw the movie but probably won't watch it again. On the other hand, I have tickets to see the man LIVE this September and can't wait for that!
Enjoyed this movie telling the story of Elton’s early life and career. Better than Bohemian Rhapsody as this is Elton John’s autobiography on film, warts and all. It is very creatively done with music and dance numbers that enhance the story. Highly recommended, especially if you grew up an Elton fan. Brings back good memories.
